Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg
The Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) is among the Top 5 universities in Germany for Chemistry; Chemical Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering ranks number one in Germany with respect to its scientific output. The Department of Chemical and Bioengineering (CBI) comprises 11 full professors and about 650 students with research topics ranging from synthetic aspects to characterization and from application and process studies to multi-scale modelling. The chair of Chemical Reaction Engineering (CRT), hosting the Haumann group, is one of the leading institutions in Germany in the field of catalysis and energy sciences. Its third-party funding in 2016 exceeded 5 Mio. €. Long-term collaborations exist with companies like e.g. Clariant, Evonik, Siemens, Procter & Gamble, Lonza and DSM. The Haumann group itself is one of the leading groups in catalysis using novel hybrid materials like SILP, SCILL or SCALMS in continuous processes.
